The Wonderful Land of Oz, Land Down Under #7, 2016
Land Down Under # 7 is being shown at Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre from June to August 2016, as part of the exhibition 'Wonder’. The work reinterprets an earlier watercolour on paper image as a large-scale interactive installation. Visitors are given narrative control, able to pose in the set with paper props provided by the artist. They can be a swimmer or a shark - colouring, cutting and creating swim caps, flippers, goggles, shark masks and fins. There are also crabs, an ark and giant fish to choose from. Throughout the exhibition gallery goers are being encouraged to share their adventurous snaps on instagram under the hashtag #HazelhurstGallery.
Land Down Under # 7 is part of The Wonderful Land of Oz series. A large body of work that includes drawings, photographs, interactive installations, a film, an installation and a public artwork, which articulate a critical reading of the Australian landscape.
