I like to share stories – not the stories of dead white men who probably didn’t believe I had the right to vote or work, but the stories of my life, the people I know and the women I would have liked to know.

I illustrate the experiences that tug on my heart strings or bubble up as laughter in my throat or sink in my stomach in an immovable way. The ones that stick.

Sometimes I make funny pictures, because death hovers like a bush fire haze and it's nice to lighten the mood. Other times I celebrate the bizarre in everyday conversations, which otherwise seem to skip by unnoticed. Sometimes I grasp the magic world that is almost ours – the dreams we hold for our loved ones and ourselves. And sometimes all I can do is make how I feel, because I don’t know how else to describe it.

My practice embraces the visual language of storytelling in all its forms. I exhibit, teach, sell works, and do all the things artists do.  I want to make images for myself and others, who might not see their lives depicted, reflected, valued, or considered.

I also like to work with other people to help them share their stories, because I think storytelling can help us understand each other better and make the world a better place by consequence.
