LADIES OF OZ
Ladies of Oz is a contemporary portraiture project by Camille Serisier that explores the lives of women from Australian History. This exciting project uses the language of theatre to create fantastical still and moving images that critically engage the intersection of art history and women’s history. A dedicated Youtube Channel shares short films about the lives of each woman. They are also promoted through posters and cards featuring film stills and biographical details designed for purchase and distribution. Original storyboard drawings and props are displayed as part of the series.
This work was developed as part of a residency, archival research, and resulting exhibition at Miegunyah House, the home of the Queensland Women’s Historical Association (QWHA). Select works will be on display at SGAR from Sept 10 to Oct 22, 2016.
